NGC MS-69 SAEs?
Ok, since my first slabbed coin was such a good deal, I am thinking about making another purchase. What do people think about $430 delivered for 19 SAEs, all graded by NGC at MS-69. The years are 1986-2004 inclusive. So, the first 19 years of the SAE. Seems like a decent deal to me. The average price would be about $22.50 apiece.

Re: NGC MS-69 SAEs?
Last month my dealer sold me 86-05 NGC MS-69 for $425,
I flipped it on ebay the following week for $550. Pretty cool set, but any SAE's less than PF-70 or MS-70 is just bulky bullion IMO.... |

Not a bad price at all.............HOWEVER - something to consider..........I almost bought the complete set early last year graded by NGC...........I checked a lot of sources and discovered (you can check this on Ebay or APMEX) that the same set graded by PCGS was going for a whole lot more than NGC. Since then, the price for the NGC sets has dropped noticably both on TV (from a hugely overpriced $1900, to a sale price of $1400, to the NOW price of $999!!!!!!..........same on Apmex, from about $900 to $600 for all 22, not 20, coins!) Unfortuantely, in the last couple of years, NGC shot themsleves in the foot overgrading for TV sales and now PCGS coins get a preminum over NGC. This is an important numismatic consideration for when the time comes to sell. So I paid the extra and now, I have the PCGS MS69 set.........I am registered on PCGS's set registry (good if they ever get stolen, they are registered by number) and.............and this amazed me..............I got a listing in their magazine for one of the top US Silver Eagle sets (me and about 700 others) and a award certificate for the set, suitable for framing!!!!! ((I walked into my dealers and told them they had to be nice to me now, and treat me with respect, cause I was famous now! and showed them my listing and cert...........but they knew I was kidding, we always kid with each other!)) BUT HERE'S THE IMPORTANT THING - by doing this and registering it - when the time comes to sell, I can say it was registered, recognized and awarded by PCGS - which might add to the premium when the time comes to sell............. Cause while people here might figure - so what - and they may be right - people buying on Ebay have no clue about anything and someone will say - wow - I just bought a famous, listed awarded set and ONLY had to pay $200 more for it!!!! Crazy??? Like a fox!!!! Cheers! |
Re: NGC MS-69 SAEs?
I would agree with one of the previous posts, NCG 69 is nothing more than just bullion. However I'm not a numismatic collector, but I see the number of graded coins, and it seems that most of the BU coins get graded MS69.

Re: NGC MS-69 SAEs?
I once bought a set of SAE NGC slabbed in PF69 1986 to 2006 - for around a grand. I just put them away.
I sure like the GOLD coins in PROOF better. Sadly they forgot to INCLUDE this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/1995-W-10TH-ANNI...QQcmdZViewItem |
